"Know this" this is not something that is optional.

This whole passage is how we interact with the Word of God. There is also practical steps for us Christians on how we interact with each other.
All theses things work together! This is not necessarily just one thing we need to do.
Put away: think of dirty clothing after working in the sewers.

- called back to God James is talking about sanctification

How ridiculous is it when we hear the Word and do nothing.
Think looking in the mirror and seeing you have a booger in your nose and doing nothing about it., then forgetting about it.
