Jesus Christ, having espoused his church to himself (<a class="bibleref" title="Song.3.11" href="/passage/?search=Song.3.11">Song 3:11</a>), highly commends her beauty in the several expressions of it, concluding her fair, all fair, <a class="bibleref" title="Song.4.1-Song.4.5" href="/passage/?search=Song.4.1-Song.4.5">Song 4:1-5</a> and again, <a class="bibleref" title="Song.4.7" href="/passage/?search=Song.4.7">Song 4:7</a>. II. He retires himself, and invites her with him, from the mountains of terror to those of delight, <a class="bibleref" title="Song.4.6,Song.4.8" href="/passage/?search=Song.4.6,Song.4.8"><span class="bibleref" title="Song.4.6">Song 4:6</span>, <span class="bibleref" title="Song.4.8">8</span></a>. III. He professes his love to her and his delight in her affection to him, <a class="bibleref" title="Song.4.9-Song.4.14" href="/passage/?search=Song.4.9-Song.4.14">Song 4:9-14</a>. IV. She ascribes all she had that was valuable in her to him, and depends upon the continued influence of his grace to make her more and more acceptable to him, <a class="bibleref" title="Song.4.15,Song.4.16" href="/passage/?search=Song.4.15,Song.4.16"><span class="bibleref" title="Song.4.15">Song 4:15</span>, <span class="bibleref" title="Song.4.16">16</span></a>.</p>
