<p class="tab-1">The historian is now drawing towards a conclusion of Davids reign, and therefore gives us an account here, I. Of some of his last words, which he spoke by inspiration, and which seem to have reference to his seed that was to be for evermore, spoken of in the close of the foregoing chapter, <a class="bibleref" title="2Sam.23.1-2Sam.23.7" href="/passage/?search=2Sam.23.1-2Sam.23.7">2 Sam. 23:1-7</a>. II. Of the great men, especially the military men, that were employed under him, the first three (<a class="bibleref" title="2Sam.23.8-2Sam.23.17" href="/passage/?search=2Sam.23.8-2Sam.23.17">2 Sam. 23:8-17</a>), two of the next three (<a class="bibleref" title="2Sam.23.18-2Sam.23.23" href="/passage/?search=2Sam.23.18-2Sam.23.23">2 Sam. 23:18-23</a>), and then the thirty, <a class="bibleref" title="2Sam.23.24-2Sam.23.39" href="/passage/?search=2Sam.23.24-2Sam.23.39">2 Sam. 23:24-39</a>.</p>
