Herod was horrible, a tyrant. 

At this time there has been 400 years of silence. **And yet God works in the darkest of times!** 
Look at Ruth...

Of the dark time for Ruth and Niomie look at the work God was weaving!

Ruth -> Obed -> Jesse -> David -> -> Jesus 

# v 8-13
Of 400 years of silence God speaks to Zechariah through an angel about his wive bearing a son. Zechariah get chose by lot out of 20,000 other priests. 

His prayer has been heard: His prayer for the messiah, and his prayer for a child.

v.17 Are we preparing for the Lord? Are we preparing for the second coming? 

# v 18-25
Interesting that the angel was not enough of a sign.
