+The first 3 verse are a direct command to Jonah.

+Prophets tend to have more money. He basically paid for the whole boat. Sin will always cause us to pay in more ways than one.

+God wrath are not our wrath. Jonah disobedient provokes God wrath, and so does ours. cf 4-5

+OT would be called wrath while NT would more be called discipline! God will display his wrath to bring attention to his intentions for us to do.

+Our sins impact those around us! The sailors had nothing to do with Jonah and Nineveh and look what was about to happen to them. We will sin and convince ourselves that it does not effect anyone around us. Example of Husbands treat your wife like Christ loves the church. When we don't believe that then we say it doesn't effect anyone. But later when kids come along they see that and then later on the kids will treat their spouses the same. And one persons sins will continue to grow to all those around us.

+Jonah  should know this the best out of all of them. He is a prophet. He is used to hearing the Lord and seeing Him work exactly as He said He would.

+God is merciful to us! As soon as the sailors threw Jonah the seas calmed. He had mercy for them even though they had nothing to do with Jonah choices.
