1. Why are we studying the Old Test.?
2. Can we trust Jonah as a historically accurate book?
## Q1
The New Test. is easy because we are studying the words of Jesus! And the Letters are directly speaking to the church.

## Q2
**YES!**
Is Jonah allegory? **No!** We shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose what we believe. It then becomes our word and not the word of God
> [!Bible]- Jonah in 2 Kings 14:23-27
> ![[2Kgs 14#23..27]]
Jonah does not seem fearful!
Jonah is 1 of 12 minor prophets. There are 4 major prophets. The diff is the amount they wrote.
> [!bible]- Jesus talks about Jonah, Matt 12:38:41
> ![[Matt 12#38..41]]
When we believe the resurrection of Christ then our eyes are open to believe all of the word of God!
## VV 1-3
Jonah is unique in he was given a word for another people. Most/all other prophets we given a word for their people.
What is the urgency? God sees the evil, God is alive and he sees and knows what is going on in our lives.
Gods timing is perfect. When he gives us direction and gives a sense of urgency they we need to follow!
Notice the urgency to run!

**Sin and disobedience is costly!**
![[Luke 6#46..49]]
God is a God of second chances!
## Thoughts
1. Why did Jonah not jump off? He had to be thrown off?
2. Can we relate with Jonah?
3. Am I having any conversations about Jesus?
4. Am I going to Nineveh and preaching the word?
1. See Great Commission!
