# Jesus and Government

Mark 12:13-17
Phar. think conservative, looking from messiah (end to roman rule). do not like roman rule.
Herod. fine with roman rule,
Mark 3:1-6
Early in Christ' ministry they we looking to both get rid of Jesus. He was a threat to both of their positions of power.
Rome is an occupation force for the jews.
If Yes: Then he is fine with roman rule. The people would revolt since they hate Rome.
if No: Then he is accused of sedition and the romans would take care of him.
Interesting note Jesus did not have a coin.
- God appoints leaders, what is God's? Everything
Jesus puts Caesar and God in the right places by his statement

- Are there things or laws you don't agree with
- Are there groups that don't like each other but come together with their distain for Christians?
Primer of Daniel.
- Can only pray to king

- Daniel did what was right
- accepted the punishment for civil disobedience
Romans 13:1-7
- No higher authority than God
- God put leaders in place even evil leaders
1Peter 2:13-17
1 Timothy 2:1-5
- We need to be praying for out leaders even if we find them evil
- Politics is never the answer.
Luke 6:27-28
- Loving your enemies can not be done without God
Based on those verses:
- What are the responsibilities of Christ follows as citizens of the US and citizens of heaven?
- Love your enemies. What does that actually look like?
